Family and friends of a seriously injured mine worker have rallied to boost his spirits.
Chris McKay broke his back, his pelvis and injured his hand last month when concrete reinforcing mesh toppled onto him and two others at the Agnew underground gold mine near Leinster.
Three weeks on from the accident and Chris is still in hospital, confined to lying on his back, with months of rehabilitation ahead of him.
Last week he had all but given up hope of renovating the house he had bought for his wife and two sons in Boulder, until some photographs proved a most wonderful surprise.
Chris’ family and friends had completely transformed the house over just one weekend.
A new bathroom, paint inside and out and landscaped gardens were all in a couple of day’s work for the generous troupe of helpers.
“Neither my wife Nina nor I had any idea whatsoever, ” Chris said.Rampant Leinster crush Ulster to retain CupRampant Leinster crush Ulster to retain Cup Reuters
