Kalgoorlie-Boulder parents were given an opportunity recently to learn vital infant first aid training that could help save lives by the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

Two separate sessions held at the Golden Mile Community Centre resulted in parents becoming involved in practical activities about infant resuscitation and children in danger of choking.

The participants were divided into groups and had a chance to practise their new skills on the resuscitation baby known as Annie.

RFDS Primary Health Care program manager Tricia Slee said the information provided was extremely important for any family.

“A third of pre-hospital deaths can be prevented if correct first aid is administered,” she said.

Ms Slee said the program was successful, with parents gaining confidence as the session progressed.
