The first few blocks of one of the most significant land development in the city’s history, the 2500-block Geraldton Heights Estate in the centre of Moresby, have been released for sale.
The development is billed as having a northern CBD for Geraldton with a central shopping precinct, office space and supermarket.
City of Greater Geraldton director of sustainable communities Phil Melling welcomed any residential development that worked well with the City’s plan for growth.
“Part of the City’s vision is to sustain a population of 80,000 - 100,000,” he said.
“The City welcomes all forms of residential development which helps to achieve this.”
Mr Melling said to achieve that population Geraldton needed a good choice of land on which existing and future residents could build their home.
Estate developer 4Land Property Group’s development manager Travis Kell said the project would move ahead quickly.
He said 503 of the large 2000sqm blocks had received approval by the WA Planning Commission, and a works contract for construction of the estate would be awarded within a month.
Exclusive selling agent Ray White Geraldton’s managing director Peter Sukiennik said the estate had the best value lifestyle blocks in the Geraldton area.
“Geraldton Heights Estate represents an excellent opportunity to purchase land at a very affordable price,” he said.
“We are very excited to be a part of this significant development which will, upon its completion, include about 2500 new home sites.”
Mr Sukiennik said the development would lead to a vibrant community.
“The estate will provide its residents with a truly rural-lifestyle-feel while being only a short drive away from local shops, schools and beaches,” he said.
Ray White Geraldton licensed real estate agent Adele Surtees said the half-acre blocks would offer plenty of space to build the dream family-home.
“It’s ideal for those wanting that extra space to build their dream home with room for a good size shed and luxury swimming pool,” she said.
“Moresby is such a wonderful area, it is a short 10-minute drive to the CBD, is safe and secure and has great community spirit.”
After the blocks approved by the Planning Commission are developed the Chapman River will require a bridge crossing, most likely to be built at Place Road.
Geraldton Heights Estate Stage 1 has 18 half-acre blocks on the corner of Fairfax and Webber roads in Moresby priced between $152,000 and $165,000.
