It was a Wildenuf day at Geraldton Turf Club yesterday.
Strong winds caused havoc for the jockeys and threatened to force officials to cancel the meeting.
However, conditions did not bother the Willie Parkertrained Wildenuf ($6) in the first event of the day.
He snuck down the outside of the track to claim victory in the opening race at Geraldton Turf Club.
Kick It Ben ($3.80 fav) looked to be travelling the better nearing the finishing post but could not hold off the fast-finishing Wildenuf.
The four-year-old gelding was given cover throughout the 1600m trip in the Purcher International Maiden by inform jockey Kevin Bohorun.
Both the runners made there way from the back of the field at the home corner to hit the lead with 200m remaining.
Running with a very strong wind, Wildenuf finished the stronger from Kick It Ben and Two Numbers ($6).
Rubin Sky won the Hahn Super Dry Maiden like he was used to winning.
It was the four-year-old’s fifth career start and first since November.
The Willie Parker-trained galloper blitzed the field to win easily from Czar Storm Blazer ($5.50) and Viello ($6).
Crafty Lodger led all the way in the Mitchell and Brown Handicap (1300m).
Lady Savanna ($7.50) slipped into second spot at the 800m and stayed there for the rest of the journey while Nellie Got There ($4.80) placed third.
Managing Director ($3.20 fav) continued her good run of form with a second win in three starts.
A flying finish down the middle of the track was enough to take victory from Sir Chirp ($6) and Icy Pole ($4.60).
It was the second winner of the day for Bohorun who rode patiently and was rewarded when a gap appeared on the corner of the home straight.
He peeled out and charged home to open up a handy buffer on the field by the winning post.
