WWII aircraft and cars on their way

Last year’s gathering of old aircraft and military vehicles has grown to a major event this year.

Valley View Vintage and Military Drive and Fly-In is the brainchild of Stuart and Di Adamson, whose property at Northern Gully will be transformed into a WWII airfield for two days.

Restored vintage aircraft will descend on their private airstrip on April 16 and 17, along with WWII military vehicles and classic cars.

Local military cadet units will play an important part in what Mr Adamson said will be a celebration of the Mid West’s military history.

“An important role was taken by Geraldton and the Mid West during WWII, when many thousands of soldiers and airmen trained here,” he said.

“This will be a coming together of the two Geraldton vintage automobile clubs, the Midwest Aero Club and representatives of similar clubs from across the State.”

Tickets are now available for what is set to bean amazing 1940s themed sunset concert with the Andrews Sisters on Saturday night.

Sunday will see the property open to the public between 10 and 3pm to inspect cars, trucks, tanks, bren carriers, jeeps and planes from all ages.

More than 20 planes are expected.

There will also be demonstrations of various vehicles including a Centurion Tank.
