State Emergency Service volunteers from Shark Bay are still in Carnarvon as the flood response continues.

SES volunteers from Geraldton, Kalbarri and Morawa have also been in Carnarvon this week to help the relief effort after flash floods hit the town last week.

Shark Bay SES manager Jo McLaughlin has been coordinating volunteers in Carnarvon since Monday afternoon.

“I’ve been in the communications centre receiving tasks from the control room and making sure the tasks are carried out correctly,” he said.

“We have been busy coordinating the transport of food to and from the airport, and helping transport food parcels by helicopter to remote properties and people still cut off by the floods.”

SES spokesperson Alan Gale said the service would move from response stage to clean up stage as the floods continued to recede.
