During a teddy bears’ picnic the Beachlands Primary School antibullying campaign was launched.
A picnic and games afternoon kicked off the Better Buddies program for 2013 last Friday.
Friendship jewellery making, sack races, tennis and teddy parachuting were enjoyed by students and staff.
Program coordinator Gina Walker said the campaign aimed to stop bullying and promote positive relationships between junior and senior students.
“Better Buddies encourages friendships in a caring environment, to help dissolve bullying and teach students how to deal with it,” she said.
NAB Geraldton representative Lisa Collins said the buddy process allowed older students to teach the younger ones.
Better Buddies is an initiative of the Alannah and Madeline Foundation supported by the National Australia Bank.Values taught through the program include caring for others, friendliness, respect, valuing difference, inclusion and responsibility.
