Police have advised drivers to stick to the limit when 40km/h school zones become active from today in Geraldton.

Maximum speed limits of 40km/h will be in force in the zones between 7.30 and 9am and 2.30 and 4pm each school day.

In an effort to raise awareness among drivers, new flashing school zone signs have been installed at some locations in Geraldton.

Mid West Gascoyne Traffic Enforcement Unit Sen. Const.

Murray Farrell hoped the signs would prompt caution.
