Prime Minister Julia Gillard, Tony Abbott, Premier Colin Barnett and Mark McGowan’s faces will be glued to target boards for archery, as part of a controversial Australia Day promotion planned by the Dongara Activity Centre.
“It’s a novelty thing,” Moira Skeet, co-manager of the centre said.
“Not everybody’s happy with the way that things are going. For a bit of a laugh, we want to give people a chance to take their frustrations out legally.”
Ms Skeet felt that the Australia Day archery activities play upon larrikin Australian traditions.
Though this is the fi rst time, to Ms Skeet’s knowledge, that politicians’ faces have been used as target practice, the Activity Centre has previously done a similar thing by giving work groups the option to use their bosses’ faces for target practice.Full story in today's print edition
