A homeless Geraldton family is asking for empathy, not sympathy, in its quest for a new home and the independence that comes along with it.
Patricia Varischetti and her two children aged two and four are currently living in a tent, which they set up in different locations each night in and around Geraldton.
Ms Varischetti and her children last year left accommodation supplied by the Department of Housing in Beverley, after becoming victims of repeated violence.
She said the family were allocated the home due to her son’s need for regular medical treatment at Princess Margaret Hospital in Perth.
Fearing for her children’s safety, Ms Varischetti fled Beverley and headed back to Geraldton to live with her partner Shannon Whitby.Full story in today's print edition.
