Emotions ran high at the official opening of the Donor Awareness Fountain at Marina Park last Saturday.

After four years of development, the completed fountain offers a place to refl ect and remember donors, while promoting discussion on the sensitive subject of organ donation.

Hundreds gathered to celebrate the opening and pay tribute to those who donated life to others in need.

Media personality Derryn Hinch offi cially opened the fountain with City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Ian Carpenter, while Member for Moore MLA Grant Woodhams and Geraldton MLA Ian Blayney were also in attendance.

White roses for donor families were offered at the close of the ceremony as local musicians Ryan Dunn and Aaron Maunder delivered a moving performance of The Fray’s How to Save a Life.
