Police say a 57-year-old Northampton man, who died in a rollover this morning, may not have been wearing a seatbelt.
Northampton police OIC Sgt Stuart Gerreyn said two fishermen found the wreckage of a Toyota Landcruiser on White Cliff Rd at about 5am and called police.
He said the man was travelling north-west and appeared to have lost control of the vehicle.
“It appears the gentleman has lost control on an unsealed road, and whilst trying to correct the vehicle, has rolled it and been ejected from the car,” he said.
“We’re suspecting that he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt.”
Sgt Gerreyn said the accident could have happened some time before the two fishermen arrived. He said they found the engine of the damaged vehicle was cold.
“That could have been because he hadn’t travelled very far or that the vehicle had been there for quite some time,” Sgt Gerreyn said.He said the deceased man was a resident of a rural property near Northampton and police had informed next of kin.
