Pastoralists and fire crews have brought three fires under control after they burnt out 5000 hectares of grazing land in Yalgoo Shire.
About 50 people – pastoralists, Shire workers, Yalgoo Bush Fire Brigade and FESA - battled for two days to control the fires.
The fires were ignited through lightning strikes on Monday and Tuesday at Gabyon, Bunnwarra and Tallering stations.
FESA Mid West/Gascoyne regional director Russell Hayes said pastoralists and fire crews had done an excellent job of reacting quickly to the threat.
He said good rainfall had led to growth that was creating extreme fire conditions.
“We’re not out of the woods yet this season,” he said.
“We need the weather to cool off and get into the wet season.
“Weather conditions have been severe nearly every day.”
