Scouting has come a long way since it was founded in 1908 by Boer War hero Lord Baden-Powell.
It was accepted early in Geraldton, with the formation of Boy Scout Troop XVI on January 7, 1913.
The movement’s popularity can be seen from the big group that gathered for the annual awards night last December.
A new scouting group is being established at Woorree — a Joey Scout group for boys and girls aged between six and eight called the Woorree Scouts.
They will hold an information and registration session this Saturday, from 10am to 2pm at Woorree Community Hall.
A registration session for the Geraldton group will be held the same day at the Sanford St headquarters between 2pm and 5pm.
