Ray Wilson is one of WA’s most experienced sports writers, starting his career at the Daily News back in 1974.
Subsequently, he worked at the Sunday Independent and was sports editor of the Sunday Times for 13 years and held the same post at The West Australian for another seven before returning to reporting.
While he has covered five Olympic Games and four Commonwealth Games, among other major sporting events, Wilson cut his teeth filing on the WAFL, and since 1987 on the VFL/AFL.
Ray has made more than 120 trips to Melbourne for West Coast and Fremantle games, as well as 17 VFL/AFL grand finals.
His feature writing and match reports have produced numerous football media awards.
