A man shot multiple times in suburban Brisbane is fighting for life in hospital.
Police are trying to piece together who attempted to kill the 30-year-old man in Jarrow Street, Tingalpa, a quiet neighbourhood in the city's southeast, early Thursday morning.
Police and paramedics found the man lying on the road about 3.30am (AEST) with gunshot wounds to his head and chest.
Residents heard multiple shots, moaning and a car speeding away.
One neighbour told AAP he didn't think the victim lived on the street, but police and the ambulance service couldn't confirm the detail.
The neighbour woke up to the sound of shots, but went back to sleep not long after.
"I just heard popping, like party poppers," he told AAP.
"I didn't get out of bed or think about it too much."
He was shocked when he woke the next morning to see the crime scene outside his house.
"I've lived here for 10 years, and this is the first crime or drama I've heard of."
Princess Alexandra Hospital staff say the victim is in a critical but stable condition in intensive care.
Police are yet to identify the victim.
