Emergency crews have freed a woman from her car after she hit a traffic sign and was trapped on a busy Sydney motorway.
Motorists were urged to avoid the M4 near Homebush, in Sydney's inner west, after a serious crash left the woman trapped in her car on Sunday.
Emergency services managed to free her and have now cleared the accident site and all lanes have been opened on the M4.
The NSW transport management centre warns there will still be significant delays as the backlog clears.
Traffic remains "very heavy" on eastbound and westbound lanes and on Homebush Bay Drive.
"Motorists should avoid the area, consider delaying their trip or expect significant delays," NSW's transport management centre said in a statement.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
People heading to Sunday night's Twenty20 cricket international between Australia and England at Stadium Australia should catch public transport to avoid significant delays, the transport management centre said.
