A man who sent a small Queensland town into lockdown for 10 hours by claiming he had a car full of explosives has surrendered to police.
The man, 37, gave himself up at 3.15pm (AEST) on Thursday and was taken into custody.
Police are still investigating the incident which began when officers were called to Kidston St in Canungra, in the Gold Coast hinterland, at 5.15am (AEST) Thursday.
It's still unclear why the man barricaded himself in his car claiming to have explosives.
The car was covered in blankets and police were concerned for the man's safety given high temperatures in the region.
Specialist officers and explosive experts were called to the scene and police blocked off streets around the car as they attempted to negotiate with him.
During the stand-off, the man was seen temporarily leaving the car and making rude gestures towards police.
No charges have been laid.
