A man has been bashed and hit in the face with a firearm before being robbed at a Newcastle unit block.
Police say the 20-year-old was punched and kicked, then threatened and hit with the firearm by two attackers after entering a unit in Waratah about 6am (AEDT) on Sunday.
The man handed over property before allegedly being forced to drive to Mayfield West where he was able to call for help and the two offenders ran off.
The 20-year-old was taken to John Hunter Hospital and treated for facial injuries.
A short time later a 27-year-old man and a 17-year-old youth were arrested at a house in Warabrook.
They were both charged with robbery in company cause wounding and detain for advantage in company.
The 27-year-old man was refused bail and is expected to appear in Newcastle Local Court on Monday.
The 17-year-old was also refused bail and is expected to appear in a children's court on Monday.
