Denmark chef Dan Sharp will team up with MasterChef star Poh Ling Yeow for a barbecue masterclass scheduled to be held on Ocean Beach with plenty of tips to get the most out of outdoor cooking.
“We both like quite bold flavours and have a similar approach to what we do,” he says.
“It’s always best to leave things uncomplicated and let the natural ingredients shine. We’ll start with canapes, then take it from there. I’ll be doing some oysters and Poh will do a Malaysian chicken sate to get things going.”
Sharp, who is based at Greenpool Restaurant at Forest Hill Wines and runs Sharp Infusion catering, will build a fire in one of his 70kg iron pans made from a tractor tyre rim with a 1cm base to do the cooking.
The event is BYO seating or rugs.
Taste Beach BBQ with Poh Ling Yeow and Dan Sharp is scheduled to be held on Ocean Beach (location to be confirmed three days before the event subject to weather conditions) on March 2 from 4pm until 6.30pm. Cost is $125 a person. Bookings on 9848 0000.
