Proving that fashion does not have to cost a fortune, the Perth Fashion Festival's Restyle event returns today to show people how to achieve stylish looks with recycled clothing.

The free catwalk show and workshop will take pre-loved clothing and accessories from the op shops of seven of Perth's biggest charities and send them down the runway.

Organisers hope the Forrest Place event will attract op shop devotees and fashionistas alike and proves the festival is about much more than just high-end garments.

Professional models and "heroes" from each charity, including Anglicare WA, Salvos Stores, Save the Children and St Vinnies, will grace the catwalk in cut-price outfits.

Festival project manager Lewis James Wright said the workshop, on how to create top looks for less, would show people how easy it was to be stylish on a budget and give the charities some much-needed exposure.

Delwyn Little, St Vincent de Paul Society's chosen hero, started modelling at 28 and has overcome hardship to start the modelling school Djoonda Djinda, meaning Stand Tall and Proud, for young indigenous women.

After receiving support from the charity, Ms Little now helps other disadvantaged single mothers and young women.

Restyle is on today at Forrest Place from noon.
