Music and fashion are two things that go hand in hand for stylish DJ darlings Milly Gattegno and Suhana Lye.
So much so that lending their eclectic music mashups of classic and fresh pop/dance/R&B beats for Perth Fashion Festival and Carillon City's Fashionably Loud at Fashion Central in Forrest Place was a perfect fit for the energetic duo, who are best known by their DJ alias, the Faders.
"This is just the ultimate event for us, music and fashion are the two things that we probably love the most, so we feel so lucky to be invited to come over to Perth to do this together," Lye told AAA Weekend yesterday.
Despite Perth's stormy weather yesterday, Gattegno and Lye were determined to put on a good show, rain, hail or shine.
"I don't think the weather really affects us, apart from the fact that we packed our bathers and actually wanted to swim while we were here," Lye laughed.
"We're just going to make it as fun as possible and make sure everyone is having a good time," Gattegno added. "We want our music to reflect everything that's happening on the catwalk. We've thrown in a bit of Blurred Lines and Salt and Pepper, songs that are quite summery and fashion-y."
Since banding together as the Faders, Gattegno and Lye - who met while working at MTV and currently juggle their DJ commitments around their full-time publicity jobs - have quickly climbed the ranks to be considered among the likes of famed DJs Havana Brown and Nina Brown.
As well as releasing their first album through Universal Music Australia last year, the duo's rising profile has also seen them score a string of coveted DJ gigs at premier events and festivals including Summer Dayz, Future Music and Good Vibrations.
They've also supported top international artists, including N.E.R.D and Rita Ora.
"Our favourite gig would have to be the MTV awards in Germany last year," Gattegno said.
"That was nuts. We were DJing in a tree house and there was, like, Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, the Killers and Taylor Swift in that room. We played at the Olympics as well, it was crazy."
