Love Pilates but not the cost of lessons? Cassey Ho could be your newest guru.
Ms Ho is the founder of Blogilates, a fitness and healthy eating blog that is taking the fitness world by storm.
With more than 70,000 Facebook friends on her Blogilates page, Ms Ho was recently named the Best Healthy Living Blogger of 2012 by Fitness Magazine.
A qualified Pilates and fitness instructor, Ms Ho was studying biology while teaching Pilates at a small studio down the street from her campus. After graduating from college, she made her first instructional Pilates YouTube video as a farewell for her Pilates students.
"I started my blog shortly after I began uploading YouTube videos," she said.
"People started asking about what I do in my daily life, what I eat etc. and I felt like it'd be easier to write than edit a video, so blogilates.com was born."
Known for her brutal, effective and yet fun Pop Pilates workouts, with her instructional videos set to catchy pop music, Ms Ho has many fans who comment on her friendly, likable personality.
"I think it has a lot to do with me being like a workout BFF you can take anywhere," she said.
"Unlike other traditional fitness videos, I talk about life and random things as I kick your booty, so it makes the whole process a lot more fun and you forget about the pain because it's like hanging out with your friend."
Ms Ho said she loved the versatility and adaptability of Pilates.
"I love that you can get such a great workout anywhere without any equipment," she said. "Plus it leaves many people sore for days in places they didn't even know existed.
"My posture has gotten so much better and it's incredibly noticeable. People ask me all the time if I am a dancer but really it's just because of the way muscles have "opened up" from the stretches and movements that are performed in Pilates."
With each video only 10 or 15 minutes long, the Pop Pilates workouts were designed to be easy to squeeze in during lunchbreak or before school or work.
"A little something is better than nothing," Ms Ho said.
"Not only will exercise make you feel better - that feeling of happiness can be infectious and you can, in turn, brighten someone else's day too. Oh, and plus Pilates will change your body making it look long and lean."
Keen to get results and get bikini ready? Ms Ho said she had a downloadable workout calendar she created each month that readers could follow for free on her website.
"This will tell you exactly what videos to do as part of the program. But if you're taking Pilates at a gym or studio, it'd be fabulous if you could do at least two hours a week."Check out Blogilates at blogilates.com.
