Ride2work day 2012

A recent survey found that sweaty armpits and messy hair were among the reasons people didn't ride bikes.

But next Wednesday - national Ride2Work Day - these excuses won't be tolerated.

Bicycling Western Australia chief executive Jeremey Murray said people would be encouraged to ride to work no matter what they look like, wear or ride on.

"Riding to work really is for everyone, no matter what you wear or what you ride on," he said.

Mr Murray said the popularity of bike riding was growing in WA.

"Riding to work is often quicker than other modes of transport and is a great way to avoid traffic and public transport congestion," he said. "And it's good for the environment, too."

To celebrate Ride2Work Day, riders are invited to a free breakfast at the Perth Concert Hall forecourt from 6.30am to 8.30am on the day. Riders can register at www.ride2work.com.au .
