It was supposed to be the unveiling of summer's hottest swimwear trends but Mother Nature had other ideas.

Heavy rain led to the cancellation of the Perth Fashion Festival's Swimwear Central parade yesterday afternoon, after organisers deemed it too risky.

The event was to be held on a runway within a large inflatable cube in Forrest Place.

But just after the Marchesi menswear parade finished, organisers announced the wild weather had made the venue unsafe.

Fans will have to wait until tomorrow to see the latest designs from WA labels Bikini Atoll, Beso Beso, Cebiche and Gypsea.

Cebiche designer Hayley Kathryn, who was due to open the show with her Carnivale-inspired pieces, said bright fabrics and bold prints would be popular this summer.

Bikini Atoll's Louise Bond said colour blocking and tribal prints would form the basis of her designs.
