The famous Australian Hunter Valley wine region recently stepped up to 21st century travel technology by launching the Hunter Valley iPhone and iPad apps.
Both apps provide users with current information on experiences, accommodation, wineries and restaurants but vary in functionality and structure.
Features of the new app include the "near me" navigation function, itinerary generation and bookmarking.
The app also offers users a facility to create their own "wine personality" with the lifestyle concierge interface, which is used to generate a tailor made itinerary. Personalities from the concierge itinerary include:
The Educated Palate- For the self-confessed wine buff
The Food Fanatic- For the lover of all things gourmet.
The City Slicker - For the discerning traveller who like to indulge
The Trusty Friend- For the lover of active relaxation and no fuss indulgence.
The app features information on Hunter Valley winery tours, restaurants, experiences, upcoming events such as Food and Wine Month in June and is imbedded with image slideshows and videos.
Hunter Valley Wine Country Tourism (HVWCT) executive manager Dean Gorddard says the new app reflects the digital information influencing how people travel: "We're really excited to launch this innovative iPhone app to the market. These days people rarely anywhere without having consulted the internet or an app for advice on where to stay, eat, drink etc. We wanted to make the process even simpler for visitors to the region. We've taken the hard work out of it by introducing the concierge interface meaning users can plan their entire personalised trip in just a couple of taps on the screen."To download the Hunter Valley iPhone and iPad apps visit winecountry.com.au/plan/apps.
