Palace celebrates with Aussie wine

AAP, The West Australian May 2, 2011, 7:15 am

While guests at the wedding reception of Prince William and Catherine sipped on French champagne, later in the night Buckingham Palace staff got to kick back and enjoy an Aussie drop.

Wine from Australian label Jacob's Creek, popular in the UK, was provided to backroom staff as the main events of Friday evening began to wind down, Britain's The Mail on Sunday newspaper reported.

Three hundred close family and friends tippled Laurent Perrier champagne, mojito cocktails and sambuca slammers throughout the night, according to newspaper News of the World.

In a sign of thanks to staff on the evening, the palace provided workers with beer, vodka, gin and bottles of Jacob's Creek wine.
