A Perth-based French boulangerie-patisserie is celebrating the 2012 truffle season with the release of a limited-edition loaf of bread.
Jean Pierre Sancho co-owner, chef Stephane Gruson, said each loaf featured about 15g of fresh truffle as well as a touch of truffle oil.
It's not the first time Gruson has incorporated an expensive ingredient into his decadent creations.
Last year, the award-winning French patisserie teamed up with one of the world's most-prestigious champagne producers, Moet & Chandon, to create a macaron with champagne and gold.
The limited-edition dessert was matched in decadence only by a truffle and gold-leaf macaron, created for the patisserie's $150 Royal Show bag.The truffle bread will be featured in this year's Mundaring Truffle Festival.
