A man dressed as Santa Claus allegedly threatened staff and robbed a post office in Tuart Hill yesterday.
Police said a man entered the post office on Wanneroo Road about 10.15am dressed in a full Santa costume, including jacket, trousers, hat, beard, gloves and a sack. He allegedly demanded cash from two female staff members while holding a knife.
The workers handed over an amount of cash and the man left the store.
Police received information from the public and discovered the costume in a storm water drain in Tuart Hill before a vehicle of interest was identified.
Mirrabooka police located the vehicle in Osborne Park and carried out a "high risk vehicle stop at gun point".
Two men were apprehended. One of the men allegedly caused an injury above the eye to one of the officers by gouging his face.
A 30-year-old Currambine man will appear in Perth Magistrates Court today charged with armed robbery and assaulting a public officer.
He was refused bail.
