A bushfire alert has been issued for an area near Dwellingup as an out of control fire with flames up to two metres high threatens properties.
Firefighters are protecting houses along Pinjarra Williams Road.
Thirty firefighters from the Department of Parks and Wildlife and the Bush Fire Brigades are on the scene using a front end loader, a bulldozer and water bombers.
There is a possible threat to lives.
The fire is moving in a south-westerly direction towards the eastern part of Dwellingup townsite.
It is out of control and unpredictable.
A watch and act alert has been issues for Pinjarra Williams Road, which is closed.
The fire is thought to have started when a burn on private land got out of control.
