Hugh Jackman says he was once offered a huge machine gun because a man thought he was the real Wolverine.
The Australian actor plays the fierce Marvel Comics superhero in the X-Men franchise and stand alone movie.
Even when he's not dressed in his animalistic costume, Jackman is amused by how people react to his presence.
"I can't tell you whose it was but I went to a private shooting range in a guy's basement. There was a bunch of us there and he was giving everyone, girls and guys, some handguns - this and that - to try out. He kept looking at me like, 'This is not for you, man. I've got something better for you,'" he laughed to vanityfair.com.
"I kept thinking, 'You know, I'm just an actor, man.' He ended up coming out with this Terminator, Arnold Schwarzenegger-style, massive machine gun that was almost uncontrollable for me because he thought of me as the real Wolverine. So occasionally [the Wolverine persona] doesn't work in my favour."
Wolverine is known for being hot-headed and full of rage. Although Jackman has more of a relaxed personality the 45-year-old star doesn't find it difficult to get into the right mindset.
"It's frighteningly easy [to play Wolverine]. No, I'm being a little facetious. But I suppose as an actor, emotion is your trade," he explained.
"If you limited that to how you are in life or 90 per cent of the time, then your range as an actor would be kind of boring.
"I am a pretty level-headed person but it's fair to say I have one of the simmering kind of temperaments. I am pretty even-keeled most of the time. It's like good therapy, playing this role."
