A man has been found guilty of the double murder of a young Maylands couple.
Garry Edmund Brown, 48, was this morning found guilty of murdering Chris Stoodley, 36, and Jenny Barrett, 29, in August 2011.
Supreme Court Justice Lindy Jenkins delivered her verdict this morning after Brown's trial by judge alone last month.
Brown had been accused of stabbing the couple to death in a Maylands unit.
Outside court, Detective Sergeant Peter Birch said it was a satisfying result for police but it wouldn't take away the anguish for the victims' families.
"Hopefully the verdict will give them some comfort," he said.
"The nature of the assault was quite vicious and severe. These are two people who no longer have the opportunity to watch their friends and families grow up."
