Celebrity designer Alex Perry made a flying visit to Perth last night to show his spring-summer collection at Nedlands boutique Elle, where his frocks nestle with the likes of Valentino, Givenchy and Giorgio Armani.
With Sydney designer Josh Goot, who is in Perth next week to show his collection, and caftan queen Camilla Franks, who recently launched her Cottesloe boutique, Perry is spearheading a strong new trend - recognising Perth as a fashion capital.
"I guess this is the first time really that I've had this level of interest in Perth," Perry said. "I love meeting the clients and it's an essential part of a designer's job to find out what they like and don't like."
The collection featured couture-like levels of detail on lace cocktail dresses with a sexy, sporty edge.
After the collection first aired at Australian Fashion Week this year, Perry secured 40 new stockists, making it his most successful year.
