UPDATE: An offender was forced to smash his way out of a premises after a bungled hold-up in Duncraig this afternoon.
It is understood that the man was armed with a silver handgun when he entered the TAB establishment on Warwick Road near the corner of Glengarry Drive just before 3pm.
A male employee ran out of the building, locking the door behind him. There were no customers in the TAB at the time.
While attempting to flee from the premises, the offender realised he was locked inside and used a bin to smash his way through a glass panel on the front door to escape.
It is believed that the offender injured himself during the robbery and was helped into a getaway car by a male accomplice.
The pair were then seen driving away.
It is understood that a man outside the TAB may have been involved in an altercation with the offender as he tried to escape.
Police have taken several pieces of evidence including items of clothing from the witness.
Forensic officers are expected to attend the crime scene.
It is not yet known what was taken from the premises and no descriptions of the offenders have been released.
Police are investigating whether today's hold-up is linked to an armed robbery in Madeley just after 7pm yesterday.
A silver handgun was involved in a hold-up at the TAB in Kingsway City Shopping Centre on the corner of Hepburn Avenue and Wanneroo Road last night.
