Jethro Hepton knows better than most how important it is for disabled people to be involved in training support workers.
The 29-year-old does not pretend to be an expert on all disabilities, but he is confident he is more useful than a textbook when it comes to cerebral palsy.
Mr Hepton gained a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment recently after completing the WA Training Project for People with a Disability. National Disability Services WA developed the project in 2011.
Mr Hepton, who runs his own consulting business, said the course had opened opportunities he never thought possible.
"I was able to use my disability to an advantage to lecture people on how to work in the sector," he said.
Information on disability sector careers will be available at the 2013 Skills West Expo at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre from September 13 to 15.
