A 33-year-old man has been charged over a high-speed pursuit that began in Kwinana and ended in North Dandalup, about 40km away.
It is alleged the vehicle reached speeds in excess of 180km/h during the chase.
Police were on patrol about 12.45am this morning when they attempted to stop a blue Honda Accord on Gilmore Avenue, Kwinana.
The vehicle failed to stop and police took pursuit.
As the vehicle increased its speed, the police helicopter was dispatched to follow the car from air.
The car then drove through Orelia and Rockingham, continuing to North Dandalup.
After 45 minutes the vehicle ran out of fuel.
The driver fled on foot and was later found hiding in nearby scrub.
The passenger of the vehicle stayed at the car.
The driver has been charged with failure to stop, reckless driving, possessing a prohibited drug and possessing unlicensed firearm/ammunition.
He is due to appear in the Rockingham Magistrate's Court on September 2.
