The credibility of Peel Health Campus whistleblower Ashton Foley has taken another hit with evidence she was arrested in a second US county on a charge of bigamy.
_The West Australian _ has obtained a new mugshot showing a tearful Mrs Foley under arrest in Cobb County, Georgia, in May 2008.
The twist comes as State and Federal authorities look to speak to the former hospital executive, whose maladministration claims triggered two inquiries into PHC.
It is believed that Mrs Foley is still in Australia, despite her claims she flew to the US on Tuesday.
It is understood Mrs Foley does not have a current visa and is in Australia unlawfully. An Immigration Department spokesman would not comment yesterday on her status but confirmed the department was aware of Mrs Foley.
"We are aware of allegations in relation to her but we can't disclose specific information about her," the spokesman said. "But if the purpose for a person's stay in Australia no longer exists or if that person is found to be staying unlawfully, they can be detained or removed."
WA major fraud squad detectives are liaising with Victorian police to try to find Mrs Foley so they can interview her over allegations she falsified professional qualifications to get a job with PHC.
The bigamy revelation contradicts her insistence at the weekend that she had only one run-in with US authorities - a charge relating to false statements on a car lease application.
A US source, who knew the former hospital executive, said the latest charge stemmed from her being married to two men at once.
The source claimed Mrs Foley had other criminal charges in her home country and that she had "scammed" her father out of money before "running off to Australia".
When _The West Australian _ asked her husband, Wayne Foley, about the Cobb County case this week, he denied it existed. He said his wife, whom he also claimed had returned to the US to face the music, had only the car lease fraud case in DeKalb County, Georgia, to answer.
"She's gone back to settle what happened in Georgia, to get the documents, the proof that none of the other stuff is real," Mr Foley said.
WA Police believe Mrs Foley is still in Victoria.
The Foleys were living in country Victoria, where Mrs Foley was the chief executive of a regional health service.
She was forced to resign after her past and numerous aliases were revealed on Saturday. She confessed to one of the allegations a day later.
