By night, Perth Arena's backstage bar is somewhere for touring bands and artists to drink and relax.
By day, it will help corporate WA ensure the Arena does not become a white elephant.
The bar is one of five spaces within the Arena that can be transformed into a function room to host everything from a company annual general meeting to an office Christmas party.
With capacity across the various rooms ranging from 218 to 670 people - the Arena floor can also host dinners for up to 1200 people - organisers hope strong support from the corporate world will help maximise revenue during times when the venue may otherwise go unused.
Arena interim manager Steve Hevern said representatives from the corporate side of town, among them lawyers, financial services groups and banks, had already been taken on a tour of the Arena.
He said the level of interest had been high and some bookings had been made.
The other spaces available for hire range from the light-flooded Reveley Room, which boasts double-glazed windows with a view of the city, to the more intimate Indigo Room.
The package for Elton John's opening night has sold out, with organisers saying it had proved popular with groups that missed out on a corporate suite.Kate Emery
