Nannup burn still a threat

GEORGIA LONEY, The West Australian December 2, 2011, 12:22 am

Firefighters were yesterday still battling an out-of-control prescribed burn about 30km south of Nannup, which has burnt 30,000ha and damaged farms and wildlife.

The fire flared last week near Milyeannup Coast Road, east of Augusta, on the same day the Margaret River fires got out of control.

The prescribed burn was meant for only 6500ha of bush but its intensity and spread continued to increase yesterday and those in Molloy Island holiday homes have been warned to prepare to leave.

Two farm sheds have been lost and one house damaged.
