If there was one way to describe the mix of contestants on My Kitchen Rules this season, "colourful" was the first word that springs to mind for celebrity chef and judge *Pete Evans *.
And while there has been no shortage of drama in previous years, viewers will certainly be in for a treat again this season.
"They're all colourful, that's for sure," Evans told _AAA _ with a laugh. "They've each got their different strengths and personalities, which all shine through on the show. Some are more confident than others, some are flying under the radar that might have a secret weapon in there, some are cheekier than others and then you've just got some who are lovely, lovely people.
"There's more drama, better food, more disasters, we've just got a really nice broad spectrum of contestants."
Going by TV promos for the show, it looks like Sunshine Coast brother-sister duo *Jake * and *Eli * are out to cause trouble - but Evans urged viewers not to judge them just yet.
"They're just extremely confident, you'll just have to see if they can back it up," he said.
Sydney "spice girls" *Jessie * and *Biswa * also don't hold back on giving their opinions, despite already revealing a long list of foods that don't agree with their palates.
Not that the girls' dislike of so many staple ingredients - capsicum, tomato and eggplant - bothers Evans. "They don't like certain things, I can't judge that, it's their palate," he said. "But it's a shame because there's so much good food to try."
But *Perth * couple *Josh *and *Andi * seem to already have Evans on their side, with the chef giving a glowing review of the budding cooks.
"They're great, they've done their research, they know what works and what doesn't," he said.
"They're good little cooks, and I hope West Australians get behind them and give them their support."
But will Tassie father-and-son *Mick * and *Matt * take the cake for team nice? "They're definitely good blokes," Evans said. "But I'll tell you, they'll call a spade a spade. If they don't like something they'll tell it like it is, they don't mince words."
On who will pan out as "Dr Evil" this year, Evans, right, remained coy.
"I don't know, maybe it's me this year," he laughed.
