The Dancing With The Stars finale was no match for the first night of The Voice grand final with the Nine Network's singing contest pulling a million more viewers.
The two reality shows went head to head on Sunday night with 1.234 million viewers tuning in to see Johnny Ruffo win the 12th season of the Seven Network's dancing show.
Even with the emotional return of Kerri-Anne Kennerley, who will soon have surgery and treatment for breast cancer, and a live performance by Olivia Newton-John singing Xanadu, Dancing With The Stars finished fifth overall in the ratings.
Nine's ratings juggernaut The Voice was way ahead with 2.244 million viewers watching the final four contestants belt out their tunes, plus a duet with Lionel Richie and his son-in-law judge Joel Madden.
Nine executives are expecting about 3.5 million viewers to tune in on Monday night when the winner is announced.
But for Sunday night Nine had the three top places with its reality renovation hit The Block attracting an audience of 1.899 million, and Nine News with 1.536 million, to be second and third respectively.
Seven News was fourth (1.472 million).
MasterChef gave Network Ten its highest show for the evening with 973,000 viewers for sixth place - the only program for Ten in the Top 10.
Seven's comedy drama series Castle was seventh (937,000).
Again Nine's family drama Tricky Business, which has yet to be commissioned for a second series, rode off the back of The Voice with 874,000 viewers for eighth place.
The ABC secured the last two places in the Top 10 with the News (850,000) and Wallander (661,000) finishing ninth and 10th.
