M *ark Bowyer *and *Duncan Miller *'s successful room renovation last night was a particularly emotional one for The Block All Stars "two fat tradies".
The loveable lads won the second room reveal of the Nine reality renovation show with their kids' bedroom despite a tough week which saw Bowyer leave the competition periodically to be with his wife *Jan *, pictured below.
Two weeks into filming last year, Jan found out she had a melanoma skin cancer which had spread to the lymph nodes under her arm.
Under his wife of 28 years' wishes, Bowyer chose to remain on the show.
"It sounds cliched but I wanted to get in there and do my best for her," Bowyer told _Access All Areas _.
"We had a pretty tough year last year, my mother passed away just before I went on the show and our youngest daughter was doing her HSC and then Jan got sick and then you've got The Block mixed in with all of that, it was fairly chaotic.
"Knowing (Jan), she wouldn't want me moping around about her and generally being a pest. The producers had said to me I could go if I wanted but she said to stay."
While Jan is "all fixed, all better", the father of four - who had his own health scare during filming - says he will be forever grateful for the Blockheads' support.
Judges *Neale * *Whitaker *, *Darren Palmer *, *Shaynna Blaze *and *John McGrath * awarded their room 24 points while *Phil Rankine *and *Amity Dry *scored 23 ahead of *Josh * and *Jenna Densten *on 21.5. *Dan Reilly *and *Dani Wales *came in last for the second time on 20.
The Denstens have been very vocal about their thoughts that the judges are inconsistent in their comments. "What all of the other contestants say is that we think there should be three judges," Bowyer explains. "One who is a designer, one should be a builder and one should be a real estate agent because it's too top heavy in the design."HOLLY RICHARDS
