If one Gold Logie leak isn't enough to scare the organisers at TV Week, will a second bother them?
Asher Keddie's win on Sunday night was posted online well before she received the golden trophy.
A story announcing it was third time lucky for Keddie was released on The Australian and AdelaideNow websites before it was promptly pulled.
But it was too late. The damage had been done, with screen shots of the page posted on social media.
Google was still calling up the headline on its search engine, even if the corresponding page was no longer available, about an hour before the Gold Logie winner was named and almost two hours before it went to air on the Nine Network.
It’s the second year running the Gold Logie winner has been known before the award has been presented at the function, let alone on the delayed telecast.
News Limited made the slip-up both times.
Last year, Hamish Blake’s triumph was posted online after The Herald Sun broke an embargo while testing an iPad application.
When the leak came to light in 2012, Logies organisers moved quickly and removed all News Limited journalists from the media room, preventing them gaining access to Blake after his win.
However, this year News Limited reporters suffered no repercussions.
In fact, when Bert Newton announced Keddie’s name, one TV Week publicist in the media room sarcastically said “who didn’t know that”.
She had every reason to be disappointed but not surprised.
After the previous embarrassing gaffe, TV Week went to great lengths to protect the names of all the 2013 winners.
It banned all media from gaining an embargoed list of winners, except for Fairfax and News Limited.
The same organisation that breached the embargo in 2012 not only obtained a copy in advance of all winners but also managed to prevent other organisations from getting the list - and still broke the embargo.
“It’s for their print editions only,” one TV Week publicist told AAP when asked why no other media outlet was getting the results.
It looks like she was wrong.
