It was just over a week ago that prolific Australian designer *Dion Lee * * *proudly watched *Miranda Kerr * * *showcase his latest designs on the catwalk closing David Jones 2013 autumn-winter launch in Sydney.
But this week, the 26-year-old creative, below, has been gearing up to show his merino wool collection at London Fashion Week tomorrow, having been selected as the Australian finalist for the International Woolmark Prize.
And while it's not the first time Lee will have shown off his designs on the international stage, he told _AAA _ he had mixed feelings going into the parade.
"I'm sure I'll be quite nervous when the time comes but I've just got to remain happy and grateful that I've been able to really get to that level," he said.
"To be able to go to London and represent Australia is a great opportunity."
As one of six international designers, Lee will present
six different looks which
use merino wool on the catwalk.
"We've worked with more evening silhouettes and shapes, which feels quite elegant, not something people traditionally associate with wool," he said.
The six finalists will also vie for a grand prize of $100,000, which will be announced tomorrow, and the chance to have their collection stocked at global department stores.
For Lee, the chance to build the worldwide profile of his brand was like a designer's dream.
"Over the past 12 months, I've really been focusing on building the brand internationally," he said.
"So it's exciting for me to have the opportunity to build that profile internationally and also meet with the world's most influential retailers.
"Regardless of the outcome, I will be extremely excited to be in London and get feedback from each of the judges."
