The Mindy Project is a sassy, single-girl comedy with a difference. Mindy (Mindy Kaling from The Office) is not the usual winsome, adorable heroine. She is a fast-talking, sharp-witted, stroppy, unlucky in love, normal-shaped, slightly dippy doctor (shades of Offspring?). It's as if the girl who would normally be cast as the wisecracking sidekick has finally stepped up to take centre stage. Tonight, Mindy asks her colleague Danny to act as her gynaecologist, with neither wanting to be the first to back down over the squeamish feelings this entails. Much whip-smart dialogue ensues. This is a hilarious show deserving of a better time slot.
