Renovators on the next series of The Block will be tasked with transforming a former high-rise motel into a luxury apartment tower, according to reports.
In a bid to reboot the show's ageing formula the Nine Network has chosen the six-storey building in South Melbourne as its setting for its sixth series, Fairfax says.
Property records show the production company behind the TV series, Watercress, spent $6.7 million to buy the former four-star motel, which closed its doors a few months ago, reports The Sun Herald.
Nine is yet to confirm its plans for the sixth series, one of two new seasons to air in 2013.
The Block All Stars will also air next year.The All Stars will bring back four favourite couples who didn't win their respective series. The contestants include Duncan and Mark, Phil and Amity, Dan and Dani and Josh and Jenna.
