A day after she emerged as the bookies' favourite to take out The X Factor grand final next week, Samantha Jade is making her first trip home since the live shows began nearly two months ago.
The pop songstress will make a one-off appearance at Westfield Whitford City from 5.30pm today to relive some of her hit performances, meet fans and drum up support for her last attempt to win The X Factor title.
Perth-raised Jade started out as the dark horse in the competition, winding up in the bottom two more than any other act, but the tables were turned this week when she knocked boy band The Collective from top spot as most likely to be named the victor according to bookmaker Sportsbet.
Jade told AAA she was gobsmacked when she found out her new odds yesterday. "That to me is craziness," she said. "I can't believe it. I didn't think I would be the favourite ever, I thought I was going home every week."
The pint-sized brunette said she was grateful for the chance of a whirlwind trip back to Perth with mentor Guy Sebastian and it had made her realise how far she had come."Perth is my favourite place in my world, it's where I am happiest," she said. "But I was last home a few months ago and I wasn't anyone. It's going to be so weird arriving at the airport now."
