It is the perfect plot for a Disney movie - pop star walks along a Caribbean beach, locks eyes with a pretty girl and falls in love.
Kevin Jonas laughs but sounds a little uncomfortable when I suggest the story of his real-life meeting with wife Danielle is almost too perfect to be true.
It was 2007 when the eldest sibling in the Jonas Brothers boy band was in the Bahamas on holiday with his brothers Nick and Joe and they walked past Danielle and her younger sister on the beach.
"Dani's sister was about 11 then and she had been reading about us that day," Kevin said.
"Dani had no idea who we were, which was kind of interesting. The next morning I woke up and went down on the beach early because it was our last day and I spent the whole day with her.
"It just felt good and after I left I never stopped calling.
"I realise it was all kind of funny and over the top but you know what, I'll take it. I am so happy that I found the girl of my dreams."
The couple married in 2009, the same year that Jonas Brothers split up to follow their own projects.
Now on tour again as a band, their reunion and the production of a fifth Jonas Brothers album is part of the story covered by the new reality show, Married to Jonas, on E!
Kevin and Danielle live in an enormous house in New Jersey, just around the corner from her larger- than-life family. Father Bucky Deleasa is constantly in their lives and could drive a person mad but at least he is warm and supporting.
The Jonas family is overpowering in a different way.
Parents Kevin Sr, Denise Jonas and the younger brothers come to dinner in the first episode and it's easy to see why Danielle is terrified.
Denise is the classic passive/aggressive mother-in-law, sweeping into the kitchen all smiles and telling Danielle to put her carefully prepared chicken dish back in the oven:
"It is better it gets overcooked than we get sick," she said.
The dinner becomes a Jonas family business meeting with former Assemblies of God minister Kevin Sr. at the head of the table and Danielle told to forget her hopes of getting pregnant as that would interfere with the group's tour schedule.
Her husband shrugs off the suggestion that it's pretty shocking.
"You know here is the thing, we are a very tight-knit family and we do just kind of lay it all on the table so that is exactly what we did," he said.
Children are still on the agenda for the couple."Danielle always says she wants four and I say two so instantly our compromise was three but I have a feeling it's going to end as four."
