Daniel Johns releases soulful solo single

Former Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns shows off his falsetto on his new solo offering.

The single, Aerial Love, is a different sound for the muscian, who sounds more like Marvin Gaye than Nirvana.

The modern pop piece was created with Lorde and Broods collaborator, Joel Little.

Johns has rarely released new music since Silverchair disbanded officially in 2011. Aerial Love is his first solo project in eight years.

While still with Silverchair, Johns recorded the side-project The Dissociatives with Paul Mac and touring members The Presets. They released an album in 2004.

Johns also recorded the piece 'Atlas' for a QANTAS commercial in 2011, has written with The Veronicas and also collaborated with Aussie hip-hop artist 360 on the track Impossible.

The Aerial Love EP will be released on March 13.
