Chet Faker tops JJJ hottest 100

Victorian electronica artist Chet Faker will be moving with confidence after his hit Talk is Cheap was declared the winner of Triple J's hottest 100.

The 26-year-old Melburnian also took out the seventh and eight spots for his hits Gold and 1998 respectively.

"I'm legitimately excited," he told the ABC from Tokyo on Monday.

"It was a two-year process, I think I wrote 80 tracks for the album."

Canberra electronic duo Peking Duk took out the second spot with High (ft. Nicole Millar) as well as fifth for Take Me Over.

Hottest 100 favourites the Hilltop Hoods came in at number three for their unfortunately named hip hop song Cosby Sweater.

German folk duo Milky Chance scored fourth place with Stolen Dance, while Mark Ronson came in at number six with his upbeat effort Uptown Funk (ft. Bruno Mars).

Notoriously shy south Australian Sia took out ninth place for Chandelier - a song about the ups and downs of being a party girl, while Icelandic singer Asgeir came in at 10th place with Kings and Cross.
